NBN Home Internet

Telstra are the best provider for defence. They are far from perfect, their customer service chats can be infuriating. But they have hi speed ground wire set ups and tower back ups across most of Australia.

They are defence friendly at posting time and will pause bills as you leave one DHA and being set up in the other which can be for long periods. I believe they will also pause billing if you usually live alone and deploy.

We set ours up in store but a lot has changed since then, you can probably to do it all online once you have your new home details.

Be careful not to fall into the trap of ‘bundling’ internet with TV packages (think Sky) if you already pay for Disney, Netflix, Prime etc and enjoy watching sport in a sports bar.

Amazon Prime

Having Prime can also reduce your shipping costs. Australia is massive and it isn’t in many companies interests to post over huge distances or the cost can be hundreds of $. Using the Amazon app through shopback can save you a small fortune.

You may pay a slightly higher purchase cost but will get some back later from ShopBack once its delivered. But your saving on postage can be huge.

Plus get access to some great TV.

Surfshark VPN

Streaming your favourite shows on BBC iPlayer, 5 or Britbox can mean setting a VPN to UK on your Smart TV or tablet for them to work. Surfshark is fast and you can use it on multiple devices with one log in. We still use it because on renewal it’s easy to decline their renewal offer and negotiate with them into giving you another 2 years for pennies to remain a customer.

Nordvpn is a strong alternative, depending on their sign up offers at the time.

Claim it on Tax return if you also use it for work.
